Student Conferences

Today we wrote letters to Santa. I put a mix of my favourite creatures in my letter. I also drew some details on my letter. The class made them too. We were super duper happy to write our letters. We hope we get what we ask for. Taylor gave Santa a big red nose on her letter.

We hope to see all of you at conferences tonight and tomorrow. We have put together some very cool portfolios. We can't wait to show you what is in them. On my portfolio I drew a picture of myself wearing a crazy bathing suit at the beach. I wonder what everyone else drew on theirs. I think a lot of people drew trees on the side of their pictures. We made a big boggle board in the hallway for you to see and come up with some words. We hope you see our boggle board.

I helped Ms. Klaus a lot today. I helped her by going with her to put paper in the printers and I also gave her a healthy snack.  Ms.Klaus loves strawberries.

At the end of the day today, we got some choice time. My favourite thing to do at choice time is to use the blocks to make pretend smoothies.

Thank you for reading!! Have a good weekend!!!

An update on Room 15!

In Room 15 this week, we painted our hands and put them on a piece of paper. Together we made our classroom beliefs and we are going to use our hands to sign it and say that we will follow these beliefs.

We also talked this week about our emotions. We are using a traffic light to help us when we are getting upset and to help keep us in check. We always want to be in the green because it means that we are being calm, respectful and nice to our classmates. Ask us about the other colours on the traffic light and what they mean.  We also watched a video about how kids feel when they get angry and we agreed that it is how we feel sometimes.

Today we had book buddies with Mrs.Fogel's Kindergarten class in Room 105. We read books to our buddies and next week we are going to play with them!!! We are so excited!!! It is going to be so much FUN.

We are also practicing for our Winter Concert song and some of us in Room 15 have gotten parts in the play.  We can't wait for you to see it!!

Go Jets Go!

Hopefully the Jets win tonight. We all wore jets gear today because todays is the Winnipeg Jets home opener. I am so excited because I am going to the game. Hockey games are really fun to go to. I hope you all have a great time watching the Jets game.

Leanne came to our classroom this week for The Integrated Arts.  We acted out pirate scenes and created a scene on Coconut Island. On Coconut Island there was Coconut man. It was so much fun!!! We can’t wait until our last one.
We have been doing a lot of writing in Room 15. We finished a story with the title “We jumped in the car and you’ll never guess where we ended up!” I wrote about Candyland. The gummy bears were alive and the candy canes were so good. The popsicles tasted good too. There were also candy houses that you got to eat.

Yesterday we had a special presentation where we listened to a String Quartet. There were 5 girls and they played some music for us. It was so awesome!

Have a great weekend!

We had lots of fun in Room 15 today!

This morning we had Library with Mrs. Branco. We picked out two books and we read a story called A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting. The story we read was about a Moose getting a Turkey for Thanksgiving.  I really liked the story. My favourite part was when the Turkey ran away from the Moose.

For a fun activity in the afternoon, we made turkey hats.  It was fun. We used lots of construction paper and to make the head we cut out our foot or our hand or we could just drew a turkey head.

At the end of the day, we had a free period where we were playing with games and our friends. During free period, I love to colour.

For the last period of the day we had Music and we sang Five little turkeys. We had fun singing and wearing our hats.

Goodbye parents of Room 15.  Have a great long weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!

The Second Day of October Was Awesome!

This morning we had gym and it was fun. We played with the bean bags and the balls. In math, we learned about base ten blocks and we did another survey. Today's survey was about cookies! Yummy.!! We went around and asked our classmates, "What is their favourite type of cookie?"  The most popular kind was "other".

In the afternoon, we did "Read to Self" and "Read to Someone". In Science we learned about man made and natural structures. Some types of natural structures are nests, bunny holes, trees, beaver dams and bee hives.

At the end of the day we finished up our owls and had choice time. Today was awesome!

Owl Picture Day!

We had a very fun Friday. We had buddies with the Kindergarten's in Mrs. Fogel' s class. We played with them and watched a Go Noodle. Next time we will have partners and we will read to them. We are very excited to read with our buddies next week.

Today we also had picture day. We all looked fantastic! Mrs. Brick even came to take a picture with us. We all had to smile and make a pose so that our picture looked good. We can't wait for you to see our class photo.

We also learned about Terry Fox today. We watched a video on Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. We learned that he had an artificial leg and he ran to Thunder Bay. He wanted to run all across Canada, but he did not make it all the way because his got cancer in his lungs and had to stop running. It surprised  me in the video when he stopped running to ask to go to the hospital. Next week, we have the Terry Fox Run on Wednesday.

At the end of the day we finished up some work and then we got some Choice time!

Have a nice weekend!!

The Owl's Busy Monday

We had a very busy day today in Room 15!

This morning we saw Bus driver Bob. Bus driver Bob told us all about the 4 rules inside and outside the bus.
Some of those rules were:
Outside the bus: Never go behind the bus. Don't go in the danger zone.
Inside the bus: Never distract the driver.
Safety: In case there is an emergency, we go out the back door, the window and the top window.

Bus Driver Bob even gave us bracelets today as a thank you for coming to bus ridership.

We worked as a team today and talked about our Above the lines, below the lines and Bottom lines for Room 15. For example, we chose to put Blurting under our below the line because we decided that it is something that could be easily fixed with reminders. We decided it was something we really need to work on. It was so important we put it 2 times!

Today, Ms. Klaus introduced us to our Writer's Notebook. We can draw, write stories and basically do whatever we want in them as long as we are writing.

At the end of the day, we had a fire drill. It was good to practice. I thought it was a lot of fun and we got to enjoy some of the beautiful weather.

Fun Friday!

Today we reviewed odd and even numbers.  We listened to a story called Even Steven and Odd Todd.  We added a new math game to our binder and bingo chips to our math kits.
We read, "Have You Filled Someone's Bucket Today?" by Carol McCloud.  We discussed in our table groups, "What kind of person do you want to be?" and "What is my job at school?".
We continued with our owl art project and some of us got to start painting our owls with watercolour.

At the end of the day we got our first choice time!  It was a fun way to end the day.
Have a great weekend!
