Today at the monthly assembly, we told
the audience about what it means to be brave. Room 15 and 14 decided to
do a project about being BRAVE based on Sara Bareilles' song, BRAVE. Some of us said being respectful, being honest, taking care of the environment, being healthy, being happy, being yourself and standing up for what you believe in. We made a brave video. The
video showed how brave we are every day. Doing the brave video was so much fun. Room 15
and 14 really enjoyed doing the presentation and exploring how being brave is really all about being yourself. Click here and enjoy our video. We hope we inspire you to be brave!

Pink Shirt Day Messages
Will you stand up for what's right? I will. Be brave and stand up for what's right. Think about how other people will feel like. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Stop bullying, start caring!
By Meghan
Stand up to whoever is getting bullied, because it will help the person that is getting bullied very much. Stop bullying and start caring!
By Steven
Will you stand up to bullies? Don't be afraid. If someone is getting teased, name called or is all alone, please do something. If someone is alone, sit with him or her. If someone is getting bullied, stand up and say something!

Paralympics Congratulations!
A big congratulations goes out to all of the Canadian athletes who participated in the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.
Canada made their mark once again in Sochi, placing third overall for our medal count.
A special congratulations goes out the Canadian curling team, who won gold. This gave Canada a gold medal hat trick in curling, along side the gold wins from the Canadian men's and women's curling teams one month ago.
We would also like to congratulate the Canadian Sledge Hockey team on their bronze medal win on the weekend. We enjoyed watching you dominate many of the teams all week long. We also have made our mark in the sport of hockey, with all three Canadian Hockey teams medalling at the Olympics.
Our students really enjoyed learning about the Olympics, Paralympics and Sledge Hockey. They loved cheering on team Canada this winter in the Olympics and Paralympics.
Thanks for being so inspirational Canada!

Sledge Hockey with Sam Unrau & Bill Muloin
![]() |
| Sledge Hockey player, Sam Unrau and Bill Muloin from the Society for Manitobans with Disabilites, came for a visit today. Sam and Bill are both very knowledgeable and passionate about the sport of Sledge Hockey, so it was very exciting to listen to them and to participate. We even got to sit in Bill's sledge! Sam brought to our attention many important thoughts about disability awareness. He showed us this year's Canadian Paralympic solgan, as shown above: "It's not what's missing, It's what's there". What a great solgan! We got to see up close some goalie equipment. The metal picks on the stick and glove were crazy sharp! We learned some important imformation for our project that we couldn't find on the websites we looked at. We each wrote about one thing that we learned and one thing that we liked about our visit. Here are our thoughts: Steven: I learned that any person can join at any age and at anytime. Garrett: I really liked sitting on the sledge. A.J. I learned that the sledge is wobbly. Meghan: I learned that goalies don't wear big goalie pads. Cole: I like that everyone can play. Ater: I learned that parents can play with their kids, boys and girls can be on the same team and anyone can play. Tristen A: I liked it when we yelled; "Go Canada, Go!" Nathan: I learned that some goalies can play cross legged and some have their legs and sledges straight out. Trace: I like the sticks that they use. Tristan G: I really like the equipment and I learned that girls can play. Alyssa: People with disabilities can play sledge hockey. Bella: I liked going in the sledge. It was so much fun! Caitlin & Sherrisa: I learned that anyone can play sledge hockey. Jackson: I learned that players can bodycheck. Sijad: I liked how Bill and Sam taught us everything they knew. Here are a few pictures of our visit: If you are interested in seeing what sledge hockey is all about, come on out to a practice at the MTS Iceplex. Please visit the Manitoba Sledge Hockey website for icetimes: http://www.sledgehockeymanitoba.com/ Be sure to cheer on this year's Canadian Sledge Hockey team at the Paralympics in Sochi next month!
